Memberships are open and are valid for Financial year (Jul 2025- Jun 2026)
The MKC committee for has successfully completed its biggest and most eventful year ever, with a massive 15 events conducted! This milestone wouldn't have been possible without the hardworking committee members who have sacrificed their time (and sometimes even financially supported events) to keep our Mangalorean culture alive and thriving.
Organising events isn't always easy—whether it's finding the funds, locking down locations, or ensuring we have enough support to pull everything off, the challenges are real. But our biggest asset is YOU— the dedicated community members who attend our events. Many of our events sold out or saw increased participation, proving that the love and commitment of our community is unmatched!
New Initiatives This Year
MKC Singles: We kickstarted this fantastic initiative in hopes of bringing people together and fostering relationships within our community.
Ladies Cricket: For the first time, we introduced a fun and competitive space for our women to shine on the cricket field!
Cross-Cultural Events: Our collaboration with the Goan community Goan Overseas Association of Victoria was a hit, with a great cricket match and soccer team that brought us closer together.
Flavours of Mangalore Dinner Dance: We brought back our beloved Mangalorean food at the dinner dance, which was sold out with over 40 people on the waitlist!
Monthi Fest: This year’s Monthi Fest was the biggest crowd we've ever seen, although we sadly couldn't accommodate everyone. And our Youth Day was another smashing success, with young people coming together for fun and friendship.
With the incredible support of Fr. Jacob Alvares, we also had regular Konkani Masses across Melbourne, making it more accessible for all our members to attend and connect with their faith. Thank you, Father!
Support from Sponsors
None of these events would have been possible without the incredible support of our sponsors, especially the Victorian Government and the Multicultural Commission. Their contributions helped build cultural harmony through events that bring us all together and celebrate our diversity. A massive thank you to our sponsors for making it all possible!
To all the volunteers, their families, and the silent supporters working behind the scenes—thank you for your unwavering dedication. Together, we keep our culture alive and growing stronger with every event.
Looking ahead, we have an exciting calendar filled with a wide range of events and activities planned. We encourage each and every one of you to participate in as many of these events as possible. They offer unique opportunities to connect with fellow Mangaloreans and build lasting relationships within our vibrant community.
We extend a warm invitation to you to join us and become a member of MKC.
By becoming a member of MKC, you gain access to a multitude of benefits, including:
1. The opportunity to be a part of a lively group in Melbourne, where you can meet and connect with fellow Mangaloreans.
2. Free or subsidized entry to events such as Monthi Fest, Family BBQ, Christmas party, Cricket & Throwball tournaments and Way of the Cross amongst others.
3. Discounted tickets to our spectacular events, such as the highly anticipated May Ball.
4. The option to vote in MKC Annual General Meetings and the ability to nominate yourself for various positions within the MKC Committee, should you desire to contribute further.
We want to emphasize that becoming a member does not entail any obligations to attend meetings. We value your involvement and appreciate your support in whatever capacity you are comfortable with.
Running a community requires significant effort, and we are grateful for the assistance provided by our dedicated committee members. However, one of the most significant forms of support comes from our paid membership. Your membership contributions help cover essential costs such as insurance and enable us to continue organizing free events for the community to enjoy.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who have supported us throughout the years, and we kindly encourage you to renew your membership this year as well. Your renewed commitment will allow us to bring you even more fantastic events and experiences in the coming months.
We are truly excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in this new financial year and look forward to sharing unforgettable moments with all of you. Together, let's continue building a thriving and vibrant Mangalorean Catholic community in Melbourne.
